Privacy Policy

Classtimer.app never collects information about students. No names, no rosters, no grades, no behaviour records, no photographs, nothing.

This policy explains what we do collect, which is deliberately very little. Classtimer.app (“we”, “us”) is operated by Darren Battaglia.

What we collect

If you use the free timer without an account, we collect nothing that identifies you. No sign-up, no cookies used for tracking, no profile. Your bell schedule lives only in your browser for that session.

If you create an account, we store your email address, an encrypted form of your password, and the bell schedules and display preferences you create. That is the complete list.

If you subscribe to Premium, our payment processor Stripe collects and stores your payment details. We never see or store your card number. We keep only the identifiers Stripe gives us to link your subscription to your account, and whether that subscription is currently active.

If you sign in with Google

Signing in with Google is optional — you can create an account with an email address and password instead.

If you do use it, Google shares two things with us: your email address and your name and profile picture. We use the email address to identify your account, exactly as we would if you had typed it in yourself. That is the only reason we ask for it.

We do not request or receive access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Classroom, contacts, or anything else in your Google account. The permissions we ask for are the basic sign-in ones and nothing more.

We do not share information obtained through Google sign-in with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising. Revoking access at your Google Account permissions page stops any further sharing; email us if you also want your Classtimer account deleted.

What we do not collect

We do not collect information about your students, your school, your classes, or your colleagues. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that follow you across other websites. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, for any purpose.

The free tier displays advertising. Where ads are served by a third party, that provider may set its own cookies. We do not share your account information with advertisers.

Why we collect it

Your email identifies your account and lets us send you the messages the service requires: confirming your address, resetting your password, and notifying you about your subscription. Your bell schedules are stored so they are there when you sign in from a different device — which is the main thing an account is for.

We do not send marketing email unless you have separately asked us to.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run Classtimer.app. Each receives only what it needs:

• Supabase — stores your account and bell schedules.
• Vercel — hosts the website.
• Stripe — processes payments. Card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our systems.
• Resend — delivers account emails.

We may disclose information if legally required to do so. We would tell you unless prohibited by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your email address, your bell schedules, and your preferences. Stripe retains payment records for the period their own legal obligations require, which is outside our control.

Your choices

You can see and change everything we hold about you from within the app: your email in your account, your schedules and preferences in Bell Settings. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email us and we will do it. To cancel a subscription, use the Manage Subscription link in the app — no need to contact anyone.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your information, including access, correction, deletion, and portability. Ask and we will help.

Children

Classtimer.app is a tool for teachers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. Because the service never asks for or stores information about students, a teacher using it in class is not sharing student information with us.

Security

Connections to Classtimer.app are encrypted. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. Access to your data is restricted at the database level so one account cannot read another’s. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not hold information about your students, which limits the harm any breach could do.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email account holders before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
